Please note: It is important to note that that the memorial remains the property and responsibility of the applicant. Safety checks will be carried out on memorials in accordance with the policy of the Burnham Joint Burial Committee. Should any memorials be found unsafe but not an immediate danger, the owner will be notified and given a reasonable time for a stonemason to make safe the memorial. If a memorial should be considered to be an immediate danger the Burial Committee will have no alternative but to lay down the memorial. It is for this reason that we ask applicants to keep the Burial Committee informed of any change of address or contact details.
THE APPROPRIATE FEE MUST BE PAID, BEFORE THE ERECTION OR CARRYING OUT OF ANY WORK. THE COMMITTEE MUST BE NOTIFIED OF ANY ALTERATION MADE TO A MEMORIAL REGARDLESS OF WHETHER A FEE IS PAYABLE. THE GRAVE SPACE NUMBER MUST BE PLACED ON EVERY MEMORIAL.
ALL MEMORIALS MUST BE CONSTRUCTED AND FIXED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE CURRENT NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MEMORIAL MASONS STANDARDS.
In the Main Cemetery
Nothing must be added to the grave except a temporary stone memorial vase until six months have elapsed from the date of the interment. In order to maintain the grounds, staff must be able to mow up to the edge of the grave with no impediments.
With effect from 1st April 2015 any new section of the cemeteries will be laid to lawn. i.e. no planting on grave space will be allowed
In the Garden of Rest
Tablets must be erected with the shortest measurement at the foot of the plot The plinth stone must not exceed 24” x 18” or the memorial 12” in height
Brent Road Garden of Rest – New Section
The Plinth measuring 24” x 24” will already be laid as purchased within the Right of Burial. The Tablet must not exceed 18” x 18”
Glass, ceramics, jars, ornaments, lanterns, wind chimes or other free-standing memorials are not permitted, and will be removed by the Caretaker and stored for collection This includes any separate vases. Flowers are only permitted in the flower container set into the memorial
In the Rose Garden
The memorial is leased to the applicant for the period of 10 years. Only the name and dates of the deceased can be added to the memorial plinth.

With new memorial applications you will be sent a Cemeteries Regulations booklet which states fully the rules of the terms of the permit being granted for the memorial.
