Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Town Council Civic Awards 2026

On 26th March the Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Town Council Civic Awards 2026 were held at the Princess Theatre and Arts Centre.

Councillor Mike Facey, Mayor of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge and Councillor Paul Wynn, Deputy Mayor presented the awards to the winners.

The worthy winners selected from nominations submitted by members of the public were:

Roger Flower Individual award for help and support within the community

For 23 years of service with BARB Search and Rescue.

Ann Popham Individual award for lifetime achievement

For Ann’s dedication to preserving the history and heritage of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge:

Anne-Marie Booton – award for individual who has gone above and beyond in helping other people

For Anne’s bravery, and kindness working with people who are suffering with dementia:

Highbridge and Burnham-on-Sea Local Pantry Community Group Award for services to residents of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge

For providing low-cost surplus food to those in need:

After the awards, guests enjoyed a buffet, accompanied by a superb performance from piano soloist Will Blake of Will Blake Entertainment, whose music provided a wonderful atmosphere for the evening.

Councillor Mike Facey, Mayor of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge said:

“I was delighted to have presented these awards which highlight the exceptional contributions made by all the worthy winners”.

Grant Application Kings Coronation Form

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023, with an additional bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023.

We are keen to hear from groups/organisations in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge that are looking to celebrate the Coronation. The Town Council has £1500 available to allocate to events being organised to celebrate the Kings Coronation. The maximum grant to be allocated per event will be £500.

You must meet the following criteria for your application to be considered:

– The event will be open to all members of the public

– The event will be free of charge

– The event will take place within the Coronation weekend

– The event will take place within Burnham on Sea or Highbridge

 

Applications will close on Monday 6th March at midday.

Applications will be considered at the Finance and Resources Committee Meeting on Monday 13th March 2023. You will be notified after this date whether your application has been successful.
