Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council is pleased to announce the installation of a new Community Public Access Defibrillator at its offices on Jaycroft Road, Burnham-on-Sea.

The defibrillator is housed in an easily accessible cabinet located on the exterior right hand wall just before the gated entrance of the Council building.

The vital equipment is now available for community use 24/7 and has been installed as part of the Council’s ongoing commitment to supporting local health and safety initiatives whilst ensuring residents and visitors have access to lifesaving equipment in emergency situations. Members of the public can deliver defibrillation to a cardiac arrest victim before the arrival of the emergency services – this can lead to substantially improved survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.  The device comes with clear instructions and it analyses and looks for a shockable heart rhythm.  It then advises the rescuer and it delivers a shock if needed.
