Free business training

The University of Exeter and Somerset County Council are offering Somerset-based businesses the opportunity to benefit from FREE training from University of Exeter experts in the area of data analytics.

Businesses who take part will also have the opportunity to apply for a free specialist 1-2-1 knowledge transfer and innovation session provided by the University of the West of England (UWE).

The insights from the project will help shape vital government-funded research.

The criteria for businesses to apply is:

  • A small, medium or large business who uses data and could benefit from further data analytics expertise or has ambition and potential for innovation
  • Business in, or supplying, growth sectors such as clean growth, aerospace, digital, agri-tech, etc.
  • Must be based within the Somerset County Council area

If you are a business that meets the criteria, please register for one of the following:

  • Training event 1
    • Location: In-person at a venue in Somerset
    • Date: Tuesday 10th May 2022
    • Time: 10am – 12pm
    • Speakers: Dan Pritchard from Tech South West on importance of data and tech in the region, Speaker TBC from University of Exeter on Data Science and Dan Isaac from University of Exeter on Data Visualisation
  • Training event 2
    • Location: In-person at a venue in Somerset
    • Date: Tuesday 10th May 2022
    • Time: 1:30pm – 3:30pm
    • Speakers: Dan Pritchard from Tech South West on importance of data and tech in the region and Speaker TBC from University of Exeter on Machine Learning
  • Training event 3
    • Location: Virtual on zoom
    • Date: Monday 9th May 2022
    • Time: 10am – 11:45am
    • Speakers: Dan Pritchard from Tech South West on importance of data and tech in the region and Dan Isaac from University of Exeter on Data Visualisation
  • Training event 4
    • Location: Virtual on zoom
    • Date: Monday 9th May 2022
    • Time: 1pm – 2:45pm
    • Speakers: Dan Pritchard from Tech South West on importance of data and tech in the region and Stefan Siegert from University of Exeter on Introduction to Machine Learning

Grant Application Kings Coronation Form

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023, with an additional bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023.

We are keen to hear from groups/organisations in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge that are looking to celebrate the Coronation. The Town Council has £1500 available to allocate to events being organised to celebrate the Kings Coronation. The maximum grant to be allocated per event will be £500.

You must meet the following criteria for your application to be considered:

– The event will be open to all members of the public

– The event will be free of charge

– The event will take place within the Coronation weekend

– The event will take place within Burnham on Sea or Highbridge

 

Applications will close on Monday 6th March at midday.

What happens next....
Applications will be considered at the Finance and Resources Committee Meeting on Monday 13th March 2023. You will be notified after this date whether your application has been successful.
