Nominations for the Celebrating Care and Achievement event are now open

Somerset Council is proud to announce that nominations are open for this year’s Celebrating Care and Achievement event – a celebration of all children looked after and care-experienced young people across the county, as well as the adults that support them.

The event will include an awards ceremony, music, food and fun activities all focused on celebrating the achievements, strengths and positive impacts of Somerset’s care experienced children and young people.

Celebrating Care and Achievement is the new name for the Annual Achievement Awards. The name change reflects that – for the first time ever – the event will be open to all children looked after and care leavers across the county to attend.

Making the event even more inclusive and allowing every care experienced young person in Somerset to be celebrated!

Nominations are open to all, and the Council particularly encourages:

  • Key adults and key workers to nominate the children and young people they support, recognising their achievements, progress and resilience
  • Children and young people to nominate key adults or key workers who have made a meaningful difference in their lives

Nominations can be made via the following links:

Nominations close on Friday 29 May 2026.

The Celebrating Care and Achievement event has been planned and developed in collaboration with the Somerset in Care and Leaving Care Council (SiCC and SLCC), a youth participation group for children looked after and care experienced young people in Somerset.

For more information about the group, how you can work with them or how young people can join, visit somersetincarecouncils.org.uk.

The Celebrating Care and Achievement event itself will be taking place on Thursday, 30 July 2026. Venue and timings to follow.
