Voting in the Somerset Youth Parliament elections begins

Candidates announced and manifestos published as voting opens for 3 new Somerset Youth Parliament Members

Young people across Somerset have the opportunity to vote to elect their new representatives to sit on the UK Youth Parliament at the Somerset Youth Parliament elections.

With the support of schools, colleges and the wider community, Somerset will elect 3 Members of Youth Parliament to each run on a campaign of their choice.

Candidates have produced manifestos outlining their election pledges and can be found on Somerset Youth Parliament’s Elections page.

Elected Members of Youth Parliament debate, campaign for, and influence important decisions, working with community representatives and politicians to make change and identify opportunities to create better outcomes for children and young people across the county.

This is a unique chance to represent the voice and interests of local young people across Somerset and at a national level.

Members of Youth Parliament represent Somerset’s young people and their interests. They go to school, college or a youth club in the county and campaign both locally and nationally on the issues that young people are passionate about.

Emma Brown, Somerset Member of Youth Parliament, said:

The running, voting and the election of members of Youth Parliament gives young people the power to create real change and make our mark. Get involved, you will not regret it!

Members of Youth Parliament are supported by an Advisory Group of self-selected young people from all backgrounds, who bring a range of experiences, opinions and abilities with them. The group is free to join, it’s fun, interesting and always welcomes new people.

Remember to vote in the Somerset Youth Parliament Elections today! Voting closes on Monday 15 December 2025.
