Tuesday 30th September – Saturday 4th October (10am-3pm daily)
Deputy Mayor, Councillor Paul Wynn, opened the Burnham in Cloth, Paper & Stitch exhibition on Tuesday 30th September.
Hosted by the Princess Theatre and Arts Centre and led by local textile artist Ronnie Broadley, the Contemporary Creative Textiles group has undertaken a project celebrating the distinctive character of the local area. Inspired by its architecture, high street, and surrounding landscapes, participants have employed a range of techniques, including printmaking, needle felting, and collage with paper and fabric enhanced by hand stitching, to capture and interpret their sense of place. The project culminates in a dynamic exhibition that highlights the creativity, spirit, and diversity of the community.
The public are invited to visit the exhibition in the Princess Theatre’s Pizey Room and experience this unique showcase of local talent. Admission is free, and all are encouraged to attend.
On Saturday 4th October a number of demonstrations will be taking place throughout the day, with members of the Contemporary Creative Textiles group showcasing a range of techniques, with highlights including sessions in needle felting, printmaking and hand stitching.
