Christmas is coming to Highbridge on Saturday 27th November with the annual Christmas lights switch on!

Come join in celebrating the start of the festive season in Highbridge – the celebrations begin with the SEED lantern parade starting at Bank Street carpark next to the Community Hall at 4pm. (To join the lantern parade just turn up on the day with your lantern! )

The Rev’d Little and his guitar will be accompanying children from Churchfield School who will then be singing under the Portico at the Community Hall at 4.30pm, and finally at 5pm the Mayor, Cllr Mike Facey, will switch on the Highbridge Christmas lights.

Refreshments will be available in the Community Hall.

To join in the lantern parade you can make your very own eco-friendly paper bag lantern to carry.

Free lanterns activity packs are now available to collect from Create You on Market Street in Highbridge and several local shops in Burnham-on-Sea:

Each lantern pack comes with everything you will need to make the lantern and an LED tealight, even safe for little hands.

 As well as supplying the paper bag lantern packs, Create You are running several free drop-in workshops to make floating lanterns leading up to the events. The walk-in lantern sessions are taking place in the shop on:

– Sunday 14th November 1.30-3.30pm

– Thursday 18th November 10-12pm and

– Sunday 21st November 1.30-3.30 pm

– Sunday 14th November 1.30-3.30pm

There is no need to book to do the lantern making sessions, just turn up on the day

Grant Application Kings Coronation Form

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023, with an additional bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023.

We are keen to hear from groups/organisations in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge that are looking to celebrate the Coronation. The Town Council has £1500 available to allocate to events being organised to celebrate the Kings Coronation. The maximum grant to be allocated per event will be £500.

You must meet the following criteria for your application to be considered:

– The event will be open to all members of the public

– The event will be free of charge

– The event will take place within the Coronation weekend

– The event will take place within Burnham on Sea or Highbridge

 

Applications will close on Monday 6th March at midday.

Applications will be considered at the Finance and Resources Committee Meeting on Monday 13th March 2023. You will be notified after this date whether your application has been successful.
