Somerset Waste collections update: Friday 23 September

Apologies from Somerset Waste. The unplanned Bank Holiday on Monday has put additional pressure on collections. All collections have been a day later this week (standard Bank Holiday practice) with those originally scheduled for today (Fri 23 Sept) taking place on Saturday (24 Sept) instead.

Unfortunately, as an unplanned Bank Holiday some staff have immovable prior commitments this weekend. Therefore, SUEZ will not have available all the crews needed to complete Saturday’s work.

This means some collections due on Saturday (which would originally have been scheduled for today) in parts of Sedgemoor and West Somerset will not be made. These will be rescheduled for Friday 30 Sept (details are below). This is the best way to manage the situation and minimise disruption across the county throughout next week.

Further collections may be affected, depending on how crews progress tomorrow. We will update information on the somersetwaste.gov.uk website on Saturday if necessary.

We apologise for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. Crew complete around 350,000 collections a week and while the vast majority usually run smoothly, we know it is frustrating when any are delayed.

Recycling collections due tomorrow (Sat 24 Sept) rescheduled for Friday 30 Sept. Affected areas:
