Table of Fees for Burnham, Highbridge and Brent Road Cemeteries

The fees and charges set out below apply where the person to be interred was a resident of the Parish of Burnham on Sea & Highbridge, or the Parish of Burnham Without.

In all other cases the fees will be doubled, except for the persons who were resident in any of the above parishes until they moved out of the area into institutions because of circumstances over which they had no control.

Exclusive Right of Burial

In an Earthen Grave and includes the Deed of Grant – confers rights to use the grave for a period of:

Interments

FOUR working days’ notice is required for an interment,
THREE working days for the burial of cremated remains.

Memorials

No memorials over 2 feet in height from the ground level shall be erected until six months from the date of the Interment. The lease for the permit is for the duration of the grave lease. All monuments must be installed to NAMM or BRAMM Standards

*Charges do not apply to parents. The Town Council will claim these fees directly from the Ministry of Justice.

For dedication of a Rose and a Granite Memorial for 10 years£260

The Rose Garden offers an opportunity for a maintenance free memorial to be inscribed with the name and date of 1 person and placed in the garden with a rose. This service includes the scattering of Ashes in an unmarked section by the Caretaker, a stone memorial plinth to be placed near to a rose for a period of ten years, renewable.

Exclusive Rights of Burial: Due to the shortage of grave spaces in Highbridge Cemetery, no exclusive rights of burial will be granted except at the time an interment is arranged. Interments will be restricted to residents on the Electoral Register for the Highbridge Ward, except for those already purchased. This does not apply to the interment of cremated remains.

Exclusive Rights of Burial can be sold back to the Burial Committee, if not used, for the fee paid, less a 10% administration fee

Interments

Interment can take place:

For Bodies Monday to Thursday – between the hours of 10am and 2.30pm For Bodies Friday – between the hours of 10am and 1.30pm For Cremated Remains Mon to Thurs – between the hours of 9.30am and 4pm For Cremated remains Friday – between the hours of 9.30am and 3pm

An Additional charge of £40 per hour, or part thereof, is payable should the times above be exceeded.

No interment may take place on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

Memorials

Only Tablets and memorials not exceeding 12” in height will be permitted in the Garden of Rest. No other Memorials are permitted.

N.B. No vases, pots, cherubs, candles or any other keepsake be placed on or added to a memorial or outside the Plinth area. 

Grave Record Book research – The first search is free of charge, then £30 per name search – payable in advance.

This does not apply to a search for a grave space when arranging an interment.

Grant Application Kings Coronation Form

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023, with an additional bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023.

We are keen to hear from groups/organisations in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge that are looking to celebrate the Coronation. The Town Council has £1500 available to allocate to events being organised to celebrate the Kings Coronation. The maximum grant to be allocated per event will be £500.

You must meet the following criteria for your application to be considered:

– The event will be open to all members of the public

– The event will be free of charge

– The event will take place within the Coronation weekend

– The event will take place within Burnham on Sea or Highbridge

 

Applications will close on Monday 6th March at midday.
