Engage Somerset extended one further month Due to an underspend, it has been agreed that the Engage Somerset project has been extended a further month, until the end of October. This means more local people can benefit from the amazing support available if they live in and around Chard, Highbridge and Glastonbury. One-to-one coach Josh is working out of the YMCA in Highbridge, helping young people there. Recently he has taken on three new referrals, supporting with digital skills, various courses and budgeting. His contact details are below: Josh – josh.thorogood@pluss.org.uk / 07548096519 Highbridge update During August Highbridge was lucky enough to have the Red Cross visit and deliver a course. It was well attended and now they all know how to save a life! They also had a dog walk through Apex park, with Yogi, Frankie and Leon. All attendees were very well behaved! The Zing cookery sessions are in full swing, they have been making pizza, ratatouille, fruit smoothies and there’s veggie chilli to be made next week. There have been some great stories coming out of Highbridge individuals too. Three people have applied for jobs and are awaiting results, Lisa has lost nearly three stone, Rodney is doing over 80,000 steps on average per week. The digital college is a great success. There are a lot of people doing courses that will set them up for future employment and others are being helped along the way with understanding mental health issues. However, it’s not only the online courses for mental health and wellbeing, but during September there is a 12-step anxiety course running.
