Glow Home this Christmas!

The town council is delighted to be working with the arts group, Seed, ahead of the Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Christmas lights switch-on scheduled for 7pm, 21st November 2020.

Christmas is the time of year we like to come together to celebrate, with the Christmas light switch on being a great way to kick-start the festive celebrations. Due to Covid-19 social distancing restrictions and Government guidelines, we are unable to get out and about and celebrate in the usual way, so this year Burnham-on-Sea & Highbridge Town Council is holding a virtual Christmas Lights switch-on at 7pm on Saturday 21 November.

Despite lockdown, everyone in the community is still invited to participate in the event. With the GlowHome Lantern Pack, the town council and Seed invite you to create a lantern to celebrate and share with the community using Seed’s GlowHome Lantern Pack. We’d like to see you lighting up your streets, placing your lanterns in your windows or simply taking them on your exercise walk with you (safely adhering to Government movement restrictions).

We want you to photograph or, ideally, film your illuminated creations and share them here: seedsedgemoor.com/glowhome or in the Glow Home: Christmas Lanterns Facebook page by Sunday 15 November. This footage will then be included in the virtual switch-on!

Seed has been busy promoting this event and although all of the free lantern packs put together by Leila and her fantastic team at Create You in Highbridge, have now gone, don’t worry! If you didn’t manage to collect a pack, keep your eyes peeled for Seed’s instructional video coming soon with a list of materials you will need to make your own Christmas lantern. Keep up to date with the project on Seed’s GlowHome Facebook page.
