At the beginning of his 2nd year as Mayor of Burnham on Sea and Highbridge, cllr Mike Facey and the licensee of the Lighthouse Public House Jess Green joined forces in raising money for local charity “In Charley’s Memory”.
Following an outdoor fun day, a race night, and a year of weekly raffles organised by 2 of Jess’ fundraising customers Julie and Derek Plested, they have raised an amazing £3662.00. There is more to be added to this tally as money was added from collections such as at the recent Mayors Civic Awards and from the Crossways Inn. The grand total is in excess of £3800.
On Saturday 26th March Mike handed over a cheque to the operations manager of “In Charley’s Memory”, Dawn Carey, at the Lighthouse Pub. “In Charley’s Memory” is a local charity dedicated to helping young people with mental health conditions and Dawn thanked everyone for their generosity and for taking the charity to their hearts. Mike also presented flowers to landlady of the Lighthouse pub Jess Green and for Julie Plested to thank them for their support throughout the past year.
