Nominations period for Civic Awards nearly closing…..don’t miss out

Last year we had lots of nominations, all celebrating the tireless support and dedication that people from our community give back into our community. Don’t miss out on the chance to nominate a local hero from our towns.

In order to allow the Council to carefully consider all nominations, the closing date for receipt of nominations is Friday 10th February 2023.

Criteria for potential recipients of a Civic Award
Any resident who is to be considered for this honour must meet the following criteria:
 Have provided services of an exceptional nature for a significant period of time;
 Have provided services which have been of benefit to people within the parish;
 Not be a current serving member or officer of the Town Council; and
 Not be nominated for providing a service which constitutes their usual activity as a business

Criteria for individuals nominating someone for a Civic Award
Any person wishing to nominate someone for a Civic Award must meet the following
criteria:
 You must live within the parish;
 Submit a written nomination to the town council;
 Include your own name and contact details;
 You should ensure that the person you have nominated is aware that you are providing
information about them and their work to the town council, which will be publicised if they
are shortlisted.

Nominations might be for those people who:

  • help out neighbours in need
  • coach a local sports team
  • volunteer at youth or community groups
  • organise local activities and community events
  • help in schools, libraries, and hubs
  • run cultural and social events

Grant Application Kings Coronation Form

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023, with an additional bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023.

We are keen to hear from groups/organisations in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge that are looking to celebrate the Coronation. The Town Council has £1500 available to allocate to events being organised to celebrate the Kings Coronation. The maximum grant to be allocated per event will be £500.

You must meet the following criteria for your application to be considered:

– The event will be open to all members of the public

– The event will be free of charge

– The event will take place within the Coronation weekend

– The event will take place within Burnham on Sea or Highbridge

 

Applications will close on Monday 6th March at midday.

Applications will be considered at the Finance and Resources Committee Meeting on Monday 13th March 2023. You will be notified after this date whether your application has been successful.
