Town Council holds meeting with Police and residents of the Cassis Close area

Following the public meeting held at the BAY Centre on 21st February where issues relating to travellers in the area were discussed, Town Councillors and nominated residents met with representatives from Avon and Somerset Police to discuss how to improve communications.

Residents informed Acting Inspector Rose Green, Neighbourhood Directorate, of the horrendous issues that had occurred last year and the concerns regarding the Police response.  Residents are reminded to report all incidents to the Police through 101 or online https://www.avonandsomerset.police.uk/report/ or if in danger 999.

One local resident is setting up a Neighbourhood Watch Group and leaflets will be distributed and residents are urged to join the group, as this will help with information being circulated.

The Local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be arranging a drop-in event at the BAY Centre before the summer, for residents in the Cassis Close area to be provided with safety information.

Councillor Millard, Mayor of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge, who chaired the meeting said “This was a useful meeting that provided reassurance to the residents that lessons had been learnt from last year.  The Police drop-in session will be a useful way for residents to share any concerns and get advice.  The Neighbourhood Watch Group will also provide support for all residents”.
