Thursday morning saw a busy start with a partnership project taking shape. The local housing providers, Homes in Sedgemoor, LiveWest and SHAL have been working with Burnham and Highbridge Town Council putting together family packs for children in the local community aged between 5 and 10 years.
The packs contain a nature themed activity booklet, paper, bug house kit, stationary kit, sweets, sunflower seeds and compost. By working together and funding the project with covid grant funding 500 packs have been created which we hope will encourage local families to think about being involved in future projects being developed.
Volunteers working with Kelton Black gave their time to assist making up the packs at the Morland Hall which was kindly donated to the group for the day to enable the packs to be made up with suitable social distancing taking place and then distributed to the local families, food bank and other outlets.
It is hoped the pack will encourage children to grow a sunflower which can be entered into a competition to win a gardening gift set to be judged later in the year. This is also open to anyone growing sunflowers in the local community of Burnham on Sea and Highbridge. If you would like to know more please contact projects@burnham-highbridge-tc.gov.uk
