Seasonal job vacancies on the beach

Sedgemoor District Council operates a Beach Warden Service on a 7 mile stretch of sandy rural beaches that are a popular holiday destination as well as a lovely dog walking area.

They work predominately April to September and the beaches are operational from 10am to 6pm each day of the week (9am weekends and school holidays), with the staff working within a rota system to cover these hours.

Both the Beach Warden and the Cashiers role requires clear and effective communication, both with members of the public and colleagues ,to deliver public safety messaging in an easy non-confrontational way while ensuring matters of note are recorded to enable the smooth running of the resort.

The Beach wardens role will assist with the safe parking of cars and the overall safety of beach users and will assist with beach cleanliness, including litter picking.

The Cashiers main role is to collect car parking fees from Beach users, but may be asked to assist with beach cleanliness, including litter picking and the safe parking of vehicles.

Beach Warden – Band C – £10.41 rising to £10.83
Cashier – Band B – £9.81 rising to £10.21

Various hours available between 6 hours and 40 hours per week These posts will be Seasonal.

Grant Application Kings Coronation Form

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023, with an additional bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023.

We are keen to hear from groups/organisations in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge that are looking to celebrate the Coronation. The Town Council has £1500 available to allocate to events being organised to celebrate the Kings Coronation. The maximum grant to be allocated per event will be £500.

You must meet the following criteria for your application to be considered:

– The event will be open to all members of the public

– The event will be free of charge

– The event will take place within the Coronation weekend

– The event will take place within Burnham on Sea or Highbridge

 

Applications will close on Monday 6th March at midday.
