Crystal’s Vardo Rolls Into Woolavington

Friday 20 May: Crystal’s Vardo by Suzanna King tells the story of the Romani community in England. It will play at Woolavington Village Hall on Friday 10 June for one night only. Coinciding with Gypsy-Romani-Traveller History month, the play puts a spotlight on that history from the point of view of a modern girl discovering her heritage.

Join Crystal as she travels through time on an extraordinary journey through Romani history. Brimming with a wealth of colourful characters, humour, music and storytelling, Crystal’s Vardo brings to life the rich tapestry of Gypsy, Roma and Traveller history and culture. This is a time travelling experience you will not forget!

The performance was created by Friends, Families and Travellers and is presented by Seed.  Phil Shepherd of Seed says “This is a wonderful piece of theatre, suitable for all ages, and with the potential to bring people closer together.  Seed is thrilled to bring it to the Polden Villages and we hope it can start a conversation about what kind of creative activities our local communities might like to do for themselves and how we can help to make that happen.”

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30 start and the play runs for one hour followed by a Q&A session with the cast. The performances will be offered on a ‘pay what you feel’ basis where you can choose any amount per person to donate towards the cost of the performance.
