On Friday 10th March, Cllr Lesley Millard, Mayor of Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge, held a Fundraising Gala Dinner at The Batch Country House to raise money for her chosen charity this year, Somewhere House Somerset.

“I held this Gala Dinner to support this very special charity who are very close to my heart,” says the Mayor.

“I chose them to be my charity because of my personal experience of the NHS struggling to respond to the increased demand for mental health support over the last few years.  The charity supports people in crisis, offering a listening ear and counselling to get them back on their feet.  They are supporting many young people and their families in our community.  They deserve our help and support.”

“I have met and worked alongside some amazing people whose commitment and compassion knows no end.  I would like to thank all those who have worked so hard to make this event so spectacular, especially the Trustees and Volunteer Team from Somewhere House Somerset.”

The evening was attended by over 110 guests who enjoyed a sparkling drinks reception followed by dinner and dancing to a live band.

A raffle, a silent auction and an auction of exciting donations, kindly hostedby Neil from House Fox Estate Agents, helped to raise over £4,000 on the night.

Sincere thanks must go to the following individuals and businesses who helped to make the evening such a success;

Angie & Dave Clarke, TurnKey Property Solutions, House Fox Estate Agents, Poolbridge Accountancy, Abbas Marquees, Tescos Burnham-on-Sea, G&S Flooring, Scotts Furniture, Lucy’s Beauty Cabin, Asda Foundation, A&F Estate Agents, Portakabin, Greenslade Taylor Hunt (GTH), Merryweather Williams and Highbridge Caravans
