Residents invited to shape the future of social care in Somerset

Residents invited to shape the future of social care in Somerset

Somerset Council is calling on residents, unpaid carers, and organisations to have their say in shaping the future of care and support across the county.

Its current Adult Social Care strategy is set to be renewed in 2026 and will set out key priorities for the next 3 years. The aim is to ensure the new strategy, covering 2026 to 2029, reflects what matters most to those who live and work in local communities.

In addition to face-to-face engagement with hundreds of Somerset residents, an online consultation is now open, making it easy for everyone to contribute their views.

Feedback collected will help build strong evidence and inform a continuous improvement plan for the county’s adult social care services.

Residents are encouraged to share:

  • Their recent experiences accessing care and support in Somerset
  • Any barriers faced, and ideas for overcoming them
  • What good care and support looks like to them or in their service
  • The priorities they believe should be the focus over the next 3 years

All responses will be used to refresh the Adult Social Care strategy. The Council will continue to involve local people and professionals as the work progresses, ensuring that services reflect the evolving needs of Somerset’s communities. The closing date for residents to share their views is 27 March 2026.

Residents can have their say via the Council’s Somerset Adult Social Care Strategy (2026-2029) consultation page.
