Travel disruptions – January 2022

Here are some of the road closures and traffic controls that could delay your travel this upcoming month, from January 4-31, in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge.

Burnham-on-Sea

Berrow Road sees a road closure in force from today (January 4) until February 11 while Wessex Water sewer repairs and renovation works take place. This affects the junction to Brent Road – junction to Golf Links Road. The road closure is diverting traffic via East Brent.  

Manor Road will be prone to delays due to two-way signals traffic control from January 10 at 8am until January 21 at 23.59pm, while Wales and West Utilities roadworks take place.

The Esplanade will see two-way signals traffic control in place from January 31 at 8am until February 11 at 23.59pm while Wales & West Utilities roadworks take place.

George Street will see a road closure in force from January 31 at 8am until March 11 at 23.59pm while Wales and West Utilities roadworks take place.

Highbridge

Burnham Road will see a road closure in place from January 30 until February 4 for Somerset County Council resurfacing works.

Bristol Road will be prone to delays due to multi-way signals traffic control from January 11 from 8am until January 14 at 23.59pm, while Wales and West Utilities roadworks take place.

Church Street will see multi-way signals traffic control in place on January 11 while Wessex Water roadworks take place.

Worston Road will see a road closure in place from January 17-28, while Avonline Networks to carry out trenching, ducting and cabling works. To contact Virgin Media for more information about roadworks

Grant Application Kings Coronation Form

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023, with an additional bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023.

We are keen to hear from groups/organisations in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge that are looking to celebrate the Coronation. The Town Council has £1500 available to allocate to events being organised to celebrate the Kings Coronation. The maximum grant to be allocated per event will be £500.

You must meet the following criteria for your application to be considered:

– The event will be open to all members of the public

– The event will be free of charge

– The event will take place within the Coronation weekend

– The event will take place within Burnham on Sea or Highbridge

 

Applications will close on Monday 6th March at midday.

Applications will be considered at the Finance and Resources Committee Meeting on Monday 13th March 2023. You will be notified after this date whether your application has been successful.
