Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge Town Council is pleased to announce its support for No Mow May, an initiative that encourages people and organisations to leave areas of grass uncut during May to help support wildlife, particularly pollinators such as bees and butterflies.
As part of this commitment, the Town Council will be leaving some designated grass areas within its cemeteries uncut throughout May. These areas have been carefully selected to provide valuable habitats and food sources for insects while still ensuring that the cemeteries remain respectful, accessible and well maintained.
No Mow May has been shown to increase the availability of wildflowers and nectar, helping struggling pollinator populations and improving local biodiversity. By taking part, the Council aims to play a small but meaningful role in supporting the natural environment and encouraging more sustainable land management practices.
Visitors are kindly asked for their understanding during this period and are encouraged to learn more about how simple changes can make a positive difference for wildlife.
