Our Clean Surroundings and Parks Teams are out and about, sprucing up the district in readiness for residents to enjoy as and when government guidelines allow. Our garage and workshop at the Colley Lane depot maintain a wide range of vehicles and plant that includes vans, trucks, road sweepers, tractors, mowers, flails, strimmers, hedgecutters and blowers – many of which are already in spring use.
We are expecting more than our usual amount of visitors to our beaches at Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean so are currently recruiting for staff to help in running our facilities.
In Bridgwater, there will soon be a new pedestrian-operated mechanical sweeper keeping the town centre clean, replacing the old machine after years of good service.
As soon as the frost risk is passed, we will be planting out our bedding and hanging baskets around the district. The plants are still with our suppliers at the moment and are looking strong and healthy.
Our mowers are already in action and the grass teams are out cutting the open spaces and grass verges around the district. On average, over 1.3 million square metres of grass is cut.
A little later in the season, over 46,000 bedding plants will be planted, making the district look ‘blooming lovely’. In addition, we will be proving over 100 hanging baskets, 19 flower towers and 30 planters throughout Sedgemoor, all of which will need TLC and watering over the summer season.
