The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations 2022

In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen becomes the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee. In June, communities across the nation will celebrate Her Majesty’s seventy years of service, having acceded to the throne on 6th February 1952 at 25 years old.

Thursday 2nd June

Children’s Street Party will be held in Burnham-on-Sea Town Centre & includes a Jubilee Parade (High St, Pier St, North Esplanade, Vicarage St, Victoria St, High St).

1300hrs           Town Crier will read the Proclamation in town centre locations of Burnham-on-Sea to announce evening lighting of a Beacon on the Esplanade jetty.

1330hrs           Town Crier will attend Market Street, Highbridge, to read the Proclamation to announce evening lighting of a Beacon at St Johns Church.

2145hrs           Lighting of Beacons on Jetty (Burnham) and St Johns Church (Highbridge)

2145hrs           Song for the Commonwealth performed by local choirs will accompany the lighting of the beacons. For information, contact: info@theprincesstheatre.co.uk

Friday 3rd June

Jubilee Shopping Trail will be hosted throughout the day at retail premises in Burnham-on-Sea town centre. For information, contact: chamber@burnhamonseachamber.org

Saturday 4th June

Jubilee Vehicle Show (Vehicles Through the Reign) on display throughout the day in Burnham High Street.

A Right Royal Jubilee Jam at the Morland Hall, Highbridge, features street art, live DJ, Punch and Judy and a souvenir mug.

Display of Royal Memorabilia by the Heritage Group and hostedat Council chamber, Jaycroft Road, Burnham-on-Sea. For information contact info@burnham-highbridge-tc.gov.uk

Jubilee Sports Day at the Recreation Ground and Southwell Gardens, Highbridge.

A Right Royal Rave Up outdoor music event from 7 decades will take place in Market St, Highbridge.

Street Party offering a hog roast and music through the decades will take place at The Windmill Club, Edithmead. For information, contact: thewindmillbarandbistro@gmail.com

Sunday 5th June

Jubilee in the Park music event will take place in Manor Gardens, Burnham-on-Sea.

Craft Market with activities for all the family takes place in Market Street and Southwell Gardens, Highbridge.

Tea Party for the over 70s takes place at Highbridge Community Hall.

Further through the year:

Grant Application Kings Coronation Form

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023, with an additional bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023.

We are keen to hear from groups/organisations in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge that are looking to celebrate the Coronation. The Town Council has £1500 available to allocate to events being organised to celebrate the Kings Coronation. The maximum grant to be allocated per event will be £500.

You must meet the following criteria for your application to be considered:

– The event will be open to all members of the public

– The event will be free of charge

– The event will take place within the Coronation weekend

– The event will take place within Burnham on Sea or Highbridge

 

Applications will close on Monday 6th March at midday.

Applications will be considered at the Finance and Resources Committee Meeting on Monday 13th March 2023. You will be notified after this date whether your application has been successful.
