In more normal times the No 67 Bus Route travels between Burnham and Highbridge, Wells, Wookey and numerous stops in between.
This service is provided on behalf of Somerset CC and is supported and subsidised by SCC and by local Parish Councils. It was created to help reduce the rural isolation experienced by residents following the withdrawal of the previous service bus.
It has been agreed that, as in the past our contribution to this service has been paid in arrears, our payments have now been brought up to date.
Due to the current situation, the route between Wookey and
Wedmore has been suspended and the Wedmore to Burnham
Service continues but on a reduced basis until further notice.
Previously, the Government stated that funds were to be made
available to support rural bus services. I hope that we may be able to access some of that money as I feel that we are paying a disproportionate amount. However, as the financial implications of the Corona Virus become clearer, that may just be wishful thinking.
