84/21/PC       Planning Applications considered

11/21/037

Location:Land West Of, The Firs, Walrow Road, Highbridge, Somerset, TA9
Proposal:Erection of 2no. dwellings, with formation of access and parking provisions.
Case Officer:Liam Evans
Applicant:Flower & Hayes Ltd.

Comment: Object on the grounds that it would be an overdevelopment of the site as the remaining area for The Firs is disproportionally small. Walrow House has already been divided and by dividing it again the is an overdevelopment.

Plot 47 is overbearing to the Mews.

Flood risk. The survey was done on what is there at present not on what will be there; the run off surface water during times of flash flooding would be a significant flood risk. The ground level of plot 48 and the floor level of The Firs would increase the flood risk.

Not in keeping with the neighbouring property – The Mews

Safety concerns with additional traffic accessing onto the bridge as very close to the brow of the hill. To mitigate road safety concerns we would like to see a 3 way traffic light system installed.

Cllr Brewer left the meeting and Cllr. Clayton took the Chair

11/21/040

Location:Burnham Holiday Village, Marine Drive, Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, TA8 1LA
Proposal:Monterey Cypress (T1) – Dismantle to near ground level.
Case Officer:Janette Burton
Applicant:A Lelland

Comment: Object if the tree is not diseased and is only being felled for cosmetic reasons.

Cllr Brewer re-joined the meeting

11/21/048

Comment:  No Observations

11/21/049

Location:14 Brightstowe Road, Burnham On Sea, Somerset, TA8 2HW
Proposal:Erection of two storey side (East) extension on site of existing garage, study and sun lounge (to be demolished) and single storey front (South) extension.
Case Officer:Amelia Elvé
Applicant:Mr J Ross

Comment:  No Observations

11/21/050

Location:33 Victoria Street, Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, TA8 1AN
Proposal:Erection of 2no. internally illuminated fascia signs and 1no. internally illuminated projecting sign.
Case Officer:Dean Titchener
Applicant:Mr S Al-Ibrahim

Comment:  No Observations

11/21/051

Location:63 Oxford Street, Burnham-on-Sea, Somerset, TA8 1EN
Proposal:Change of use of 1no. dwelling to 2no. self- contained flats and loft conversion to provide additional living accommodation, installation of roof lights to front (West) and rear (East) elevations, installation of a balcony on top of existing rear extension, removal of chimney stacks, application of external render and associated alterations.
Case Officer:Liam Evans
Applicant:G Callen

Comment:  Object on grounds of appearance in changing the street scene. The rendering of the red brick would be out of keeping, the surrounding properties are built with local red brick and to loose these would change the character of the street scene.

The bedroom on the ground floor has no refuge from flood risk. This could be addressed by putting a door into the hallway so there could be access to the stairs.

Correspondence from the Clerk

86/21/PC       Verbal information on an enquiry received by Cllr Brewer

The meeting heard that a resident of Clyce Road had made an enquiry regarding a neighbours extension that had been built some years ago. The information that was shared with the gentleman was that many other properties also had extensions and that there was a possibility that a Certificate of Lawfulness might be requested. The enquirer had also been signed posted to Sedgemoor.
