Minutes of the Planning Applications Committee held on Monday 16th September 2019 at 7pm in The Council Chamber, the Old Courthouse, Jaycroft Rd, Burnham-on-Sea

Present: Cllrs Andy Brewer – Chairman, Peter Clayton, Rich Gardiner-White, Bill Hancock, Sue Harvey, Louise Parkin and Nick Tolley,

Also present: Lorna Williams – Clerk to the Committee, 4 members of the public and 2 representatives of the press.

The minutes of the Planning Committee held on 5th August 2019 were received and signed by the Chairman as a correct record.

The Chairman suggested slight change to the agenda order and members agreed to consider applications 11/19/093 and then 11/18/131

Public Speaking Time

The agent for 11/19/093 asked members to support this application. A comprehensive overview of the application was received including; parking, access, boundary roof height of the bungalow

11/19/093      Location: Land to the North West of, 69, North Avenue, Highbridge, Somerset, TA9

Proposal: Erection of detached dwelling and formation of an additional parking space.

Comment      Members supported this application on the grounds that it provided suitable living accommodation taking into account possible future limited mobility. The application was also in keeping with the neighbouring properties and street scene.

Proposal: Approval of reserved matters for the erection of 95 No. dwellings and associated development (revised scheme to 11/17/00121)

Comment      Members were pleased to see the developers were looking at appropriate provision and were all in agreement that the changes were positive. Overall the scheme was encouraging for the area.

Comment      Members supported the application on the grounds that the redevelopment would enhance the area and street scene as the rear extension could be seen from the side road. It was a good sustainable development.

46/19/PC       Members NOTED that 11/19/079, 28 Queens Square had been considered under delegated authority. The Case Officer had informed the Clerk that the applicant had amended the application so that parking spaces, access and dropped kerb no longer formed part of the application. In light of the changes it was agreed to return ‘no observations’ to this application.

47/19/PC       Members considered the consultation information regarding removal of planning restriction on 5G mobile network. It was agreed to formulate a response to NALC at the next Planning Committee meeting. This would give more time to look at the consultation document.

48/19/PC       Correspondence had been received concerning the removal of BT Payphones. There were two that have been identified for removal in Burnham; Berrow Road and Stoneleigh Close. The call usage over the past year has been extremely low, 40 and 2 respectively.

49/19/PC       The next meeting of this committee will be held on Wednesday 9th October 2019 at 7pm The Old Courthouse.

The Chairman closed the meeting at 19:55

Grant Application Kings Coronation Form

The Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III will take place on Saturday 6th May 2023, with an additional bank holiday on Monday 8th May 2023.

We are keen to hear from groups/organisations in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge that are looking to celebrate the Coronation. The Town Council has £1500 available to allocate to events being organised to celebrate the Kings Coronation. The maximum grant to be allocated per event will be £500.

You must meet the following criteria for your application to be considered:

– The event will be open to all members of the public

– The event will be free of charge

– The event will take place within the Coronation weekend

– The event will take place within Burnham on Sea or Highbridge

 

Applications will close on Monday 6th March at midday.
